What you may do with ReqTone

The licence

Subject to these terms, s7.ma grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the version of ReqTone you received, for any lawful purpose.

There is no seat count, no user limit and no distinction between personal and commercial use. Install it on as many machines as you like, use it at a company of any size, use it on client work. No account, no registration, no activation, and no charge.

This licence lasts as long as you comply with it. Your collections, secrets and history are yours; nothing in this licence gives us any right to them.

What the licence does not cover

All rights not expressly granted above are reserved. In particular:

• Do not redistribute, resell, rent, sublicense or host ReqTone as a service for others. Pointing someone at the download is fine; shipping your own copy of the binary is not.
• Do not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
• Do not remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notice in the software.
• Do not use ReqTone to send requests to systems you are not authorised to access, or to break any law that applies to you. ReqTone sends what you tell it to send; what you tell it to send is on you.

Future versions, and what we may charge for

This licence covers the version of ReqTone you received. It does not oblige us to release future versions, or to license them on these same terms.

A version you already have stays licensed to you under the terms it came with. We cannot reach back and change the deal on software already on your disk, and we will not try to.

Where we expect this to go:

• The desktop client stays free. Not a limited tier, not a trial — the client is the product we want in as many hands as possible, and we do not intend to charge for it.
• Self-hosted sync is where a paid tier would sit. The intention is that it stays free for small teams — up to 3 members on a server — and that larger teams need a paid licence once one exists.

That is a statement of intent, not a restriction you are under today. There is no seat limit in force, nothing counts your users, and nothing here makes a larger team a breach of this licence. If and when paid terms arrive, they will apply to versions released after that point, and we will say so on this page before they do.

Self-hosted sync, while it is in beta

Self-hosted sync is in beta testing. It is not generally available, the ReqTone client works fully without it, and a default install never contacts a sync server.

Beta software is provided as-is and as-available. It may change, break, lose data, or be withdrawn without notice, and no availability or support commitment applies to it. Do not point it at anything you cannot afford to lose, and keep your own backups — the SQLite file is one file, so this is cheap to do.

When you run a sync server, it is your server, on infrastructure you control. The data on it is yours and we neither hold it nor have access to it. Securing it, backing it up, and complying with whatever rules apply to the data you put on it are yours to handle.

No warranty

ReqTone is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. It is a tool for sending HTTP requests; it is not certified for any particular use and should not be treated as the last line of defence in anything that matters.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, s7.ma will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or business, arising out of or in connection with your use of ReqTone, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you have paid us for ReqTone in the twelve months before the claim arose — which, while the software is free, is zero.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

The ReqTone name and logo

“ReqTone”, the ReqTone logo and the visual identity of this site belong to s7.ma. This licence does not grant you any right to use them.

You may of course refer to ReqTone by name — in a blog post, in documentation, in a talk, in a list of tools your team uses. What you may not do is put the name or the mark on software, a download, a service or a site that is not ours, in a way that suggests it is ours or that we endorse it. We are strict about this for one reason: the name is what tells someone a download is genuinely from us.

This website

The content of www.reqtone.com — text, layout, screenshots and code samples — belongs to s7.ma, except where stated otherwise. You may quote and link to it freely. Do not copy it wholesale to pass off as your own.

The agent prompt published on the Generate page is meant to be copied and used. Take it, adapt it, run it against your own projects — no restriction there.

We try to keep this site accurate, and we would rather remove a claim than leave one we cannot support. It is still a marketing site, and nothing on it is a warranty or a contractual commitment unless it is written on this page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version carries a version number and an effective date, and the version in force when you received a build is the one that applies to that build.

If we do not enforce something in these terms straight away, that is not a waiver of it and does not stop us enforcing it later. If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Morocco, and the courts of Morocco have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else whose law gives you rights that cannot be contracted away, you keep those rights and the protection of your local mandatory law regardless of what this section says.
